Promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation & rehabilitation

Physiotherapy. as described by the Charted Society of Physiotherapists, "is a healthcare profession with a science foundation. The range of work is very broad and varied and involves working with people to promote their own health and well being."

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability. It aims to develop, maintain, restore and optimise health and function where health has been compromised by ageing, injury, disease or environmental factors. Physiotherapy is a holistic approach to identifying and maximising the quality of life and movement potential for each individual. Treatment methods within physiotherapy include

  • mobilisation of spinal joints and peripheral joints
  • soft tissue mobilisation
  • massage
  • trigger point release
  • acupuncture for pain relief
  • electrotherapy (laser therapy, ultrasound, TENS) to aid pain relief and promote healing
  • postural education & exercise therapy to aid correction of biomechanical dysfunction

Rebecca specialises in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation including the following:

  • spinal problems (prolapsed disc, trapped nerve)
  • upper and lower limb problems (eg frozen shoulder, tennis/golfer's elbow, rotator cuff problems)
  • sport injuries
  • soft tissue problems (muscle, ligament and tendon problems)
  • orthopaedic and joint problems (eg fractures, arthritis, bursitis)
  • Post orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation (eg hip/knee replacement)
  • neurological conditions (eg Parkinsons Disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis)

The physiotherapy clinic works closely with the team of five sports therapists and remedial massage therapists to offer advice, treatment, education, rehabilitation for clients of all ages

The first initial assessment and advice session lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour where you discuss your problem with the physiotherapist in detail and the best treatment options for you. Hands on treatment will be carried out during the initial consultation.

Additional follow up treatments are 30 minutes duration and you will need to expose the affected areas for assessment and treatment, so please dress in a way you will feel comfortable. You are welcome to be accompanied during treatment if you wish and the therapist will be with you at all times during the treatment sessions.
