Reflexology is the study and practice of applying pressure to specific areas on the feet (called reflexes) to help restore balance to the whole body.
The glands, organs and systems of the body correspond to reflex areas on the feet, including the toes and ankles. When the points corresponding to these systems and organs are compressed, a reflex arc, between point and organ is stimulated and activates the body’s own innate healing ability. By relaxing the tension, reducing the constriction caused by the build up of toxins and letting the blood and nerve supply flow more freely, the body is then free to repair itself unimpeded by the effects of stress. Reflexology is an effective way of helping the body to combat stress and is a gentle and safe holistic therapy.
