Sunsationally Soothing After Sun Spray!

Published on 20th May 2020

With the hot sunshine that the weathermen are predicting is heading our way, we all need to remember to stock up on high factor sunscreen.  But, let’s face it, we’ve all been guilty of forgetting to reapply regularly enough or of missing bits and getting a little extra “glow”.  This recipe will help to tame your fiery skin and make you more comfortable.  We’ve used Hempseed oil as it is a light oil with anti-inflammatory properties that won’t clog your pores; Frankincense oil to help reduce heat and redness; Helichrysum oil for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties and Lavender oil (yep, lavender again!) for its cooling and calming effect.  As you can see, the recurring theme in this recipe is cooling and reducing the heat and inflammation that makes sunburn so uncomfortable.

  • 1 tablespoon of Hempseed Oil
  • 5 drops Frankincense Oil
  • 5 drops Helichrysum Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender Oil
  • 110ml of water

Add the 3 essential oils to the Hempseed oil and mix well.  Stir in the water and then decant in a small spray bottle.  Shake well before use and spray liberally onto inflamed areas and allow to soak into the skin.  Avoid contact with eyes.  Use as often as required.

The Sunsationally Soothing After Sun Spray makes a very thoughtful gift.  You can either make it up yourself by ordering the ingredients in our online shop and dispense it into a pretty jar to gift or give the lucky recipient the ingredients along with the link to the recipe and they can have a go themselves!

We always recommend doing a little patch test first, as you should when trying any new skincare product for the first time, particularly if you have sensitive skin.  Always mix essential oils with a suitable carrier oil, never apply them directly on to skin.
