Your Granny Was Right!
Do you remember, as a child, hearing your granny say that her bones hurt more in the wintertime? She may well have been right! Conditions like arthritis affect people all year round, but the cold and wet winter months can make it harder to manage the symptoms. People tend to move less during the winter months, muscles become cold, tight and tense and this can make pain worse and increase your risk of getting strains and sprains. Our therapists always report an increase in clients experiencing neck and shoulder pain at the onset of colder weather. This is partially because we tend to hunch our shoulders and bring them up to our ears when we are cold, tensing the muscles and altering our posture.
Massage releases tension in the muscles and joints, increases blood flow and can boost the body’s natural healing processes. Regular massage can help to increase mobility and reduce pain levels.
Our Sports Therapists have the knowledge and experience to help with a wide range of musculoskeletal issues and you don’t need a doctor’s referral to get an appointment. We do our best to keep a number of appointments free for people who are in pain and will always try and get you seen as quickly as possible. You can book online or call us for advice and to book an appointment. We’re here to help.
