Reynaud's Awareness Month
Reynaud’s Awareness Month
Did you know that February is Reynaud’s Awareness Month? Reynaud’s affects millions of people and is caused by small blood vessels being over-sensitive to the slightest of temperature changes, cold and stress. During a Reynaud’s attack the fingers, toes, nose and other body parts change colour and become cold and painful. Attacks can be helped by avoiding stress and by wearing thin layers to keep the body warm.
1 in 6 people in the Uk live with Reynaud's. If you experience any of the following symptoms, then there is plenty of online advice and help at Scleroderma & Reynaud's UK.
- Cold fingers and toes
- Colour change to your skin in response to changes in temperature or stress
- Colour changes from white, to blue/purple and then red
- Numbness, tingling or pain in the affected area
- Stinging or throbbing pain upon warming or stress relief
