6 Useful Mental Health Tips

Some of us will struggle over the festive period, so we’ve put together a few tips that should help you through.

  1. If you get unhelpful, obtrusive thoughts try looking at things differently, for example stop thinking in terms of what you “should” do and consider what you can do.
  2. Try to keep focused on the present moment, what is happening right now rather than letting your mind project you into thoughts of the future and a whole lot of “what if’s” or dwelling on past events that you cannot change.
  3. Have a good, regular bedtime routine and stick to it. Disrupting your sleep pattern through the holiday season will lead to you being tired and stressed and will not help your mental health.
  4. Talk to someone. Just connecting with another human will help lift your spirit. Phone that friend or relative that you haven’t spoken to in a while and ask them how they’re doing!
  5. Most of us over indulge during the festivities, but try to keep some of your healthy lifestyle choices. Choose a light meal instead of rich Christmas food at least once a day and get some exercise.
  6. Making time for yourself is probably the most important of all our tips. Set aside an hour every single day when you will enjoy some peaceful time to yourself. It could be a bath, time with a book, a walk – anything that nurtures and lifts you.

Even small changes can make a big difference!

Testimonials

Amazing place for both massage and counselling. Such a welcoming vibe and relaxed atmosphere. It’s impossible to leave without feeling utterly relaxed, whatever treatment you have! I can highly recommend Jeanette for counselling, I felt at ease from the moment I walked in and Jeanette’s approach, understanding and support made me feel like she’d known what was in my head my whole life. The techniques she taught me gave me my confidence and my life back. I always thought counselling was a last resort for those in dire need, but I was so wrong and look forward to my next mindfulness session. Thanks Body & Mind!
