What Are My Options for Emotional Health Support?
We all experience times in our lives when we need emotional support, and our experienced, professional therapists are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and are here to help you at the time you need them the most. We understand that the pandemic has affected everyone in some way and many are looking for additional support at the moment.
Counselling
If you want to get to the root cause of why you feel and behave the way you do, then counselling will help. Counselling helps you to understand your “why” and make lasting changes. Broadly speaking, counselling requires around 6 sessions, although you may need more or less, depending upon your individual needs.
Brief Therapies
These types of therapies focus primarily on dealing with the symptoms rather than concentrating on the cause of any problems and aim to help you learn how to move forwards quickly, a bit like mental health first aid! Brief therapies usually take around 4 sessions, although you may require more or less, depending upon your individual needs.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) aims to treat the symptoms of problems such as depression and anxiety by teaching you techniques to change your thinking and dismiss unhelpful thoughts.
- Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) teaches you to search out solutions to whatever is problematic for you and ask, “what can I do, right now, to help myself?”
- Mindfulness techniques are taught to allow you to focus on the present and live in the moment more, rather than reliving the past or anticipating the future.
